Where the cases stand

  • Federal cases are combined in MDL No. 3166 (Northern District of California, Chief Judge Seeborg), created in December 2025. About 180 cases were pending in October 2026.
  • Roblox and Discord have asked the court to send the test cases to arbitration. A hearing is set for January 13, 2027.
  • Several states have brought their own cases against Roblox. Families’ individual claims are separate and continue.

Cases the lawyers are reviewing

  • An adult first contacted the child through Roblox while the child was under 18
  • The contact led to grooming, sexual messages, requests for images, sextortion, an attempted or actual meeting, or assault
  • Cases that stayed online can qualify. A police report helps but is not required.

Usually not a fit

  • Bullying by other children
  • Robux refunds, bans or spending disputes without predatory contact

What to keep

  • Usernames involved, on Roblox and any app the contact moved to
  • Screenshots or saved messages, if you have them (do not delete anything)
  • Any report to Roblox, Discord, the police or the school
  • Names of any counselor or doctor who has seen the child since

Deadlines

Deadlines vary by state. Many states extend them for childhood sexual abuse, and the clock is often paused until 18. Ask before assuming it is too late.
