Where the cases stand
- Federal cases are combined in MDL No. 3047 in the Northern District of California. About 3,800 cases were pending in October 2026.
- Thousands more are coordinated in California state court (JCCP 5255, Los Angeles).
- In March 2026 juries in Los Angeles and Santa Fe ruled against Meta, and the Los Angeles jury also ruled against YouTube. The companies have appealed.
- Families’ individual injury claims remain open and continue to move forward. More trials are scheduled in 2027.

Cases the lawyers are reviewing
- The child used Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat or YouTube regularly before age 18
- A doctor, therapist or counselor diagnosed, treated or prescribed medication for a harm such as depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or a suicide attempt
- The family of a young person who died by suicide after heavy social media use
- A child who was sexually exploited through Instagram, Snapchat or another platform: asked for images, threatened (sextortion) or groomed
- No diagnosis at all, but the child spent 20 or more hours a week on one platform before 18 (an exposure claim)
Usually not a fit
- Use that started only after age 18
- Occasional, light use with no change in the child’s health, mood or schoolwork (we still review it if you ask)
Not sure? Take the check anyway or call. A lawyer makes the decision, not a form.
What to keep
- Account names on each platform and roughly when use started
- Screen-time reports, if you have them
- Names of doctors, therapists, counselors and hospitals
- School records showing changes, if any
Please don’t send records or screenshots through this website. If your case moves forward, the lawyers give you a secure way to share them.
Deadlines
Each state sets its own deadline. For minors the clock often does not start until 18, but some states use shorter or discovery-based rules. Don’t wait to ask.
Fees
One-third of the net recovery, under a written contingency fee agreement. If there is no recovery, there is no attorney fee.
The full case questionnaire
Ready to go further? This is the detailed questionnaire the lawyers use to evaluate a case. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes. It helps to have the dates your child started using each app, the names of doctors or counselors, and any diagnosis. Answer as accurately as you can and don’t guess; we will follow up on anything that is unclear.
The questionnaire also contains the contingency fee agreement. Submitting it does not make us your lawyers; that happens only if the firm agrees to take the case, and we will talk with you first. Its agreement page still lists the firm as “Grove and Associates, PC” with an older phone number. It is the same firm, Grove and Associates PLC; the number to call is 313.733.1204.
Form not loading, or easier on a full screen? Open the questionnaire in a new tab, or call 313.733.1204.
The questionnaire is hosted by Jotform, a form service, and goes only to the lawyers evaluating your case. See our privacy notice. If your child is in immediate danger, call 911 or 988 instead of using this form.
